Anthony “Dullah Beats” Mapp

"Dullah Beats" photoMusic production as defined in part by Webster is, "the organization and presentation of a dramatic work for the purpose of entertainment".  This is something that is creatively in you; born with an innate ability to creatively and cleverly entertain the human ear and provide the mind visuals of that creation or it's something you have to work hard at in order to be able to do it.

Anthony "Dullah Beats" Mapp was born with this musical gift.  Years of hard work and being in the right place at the right time allowed this DJ kid from Bunch Middle School in 1984 and his DJ partner Enoch "Tiger" Hightower to scratch their way into the minds of the youth as they transitioned to Therrell High School.  Gaining the attention of the likes of then young Patrick "Sleepy" Brown, Dullah Beats began to realize that not only did his talent as a DJ and his love for music spark interest among his peers, but mutual interest in producing that very same music he was spinning and scratching was about to establish a blueprint for creating platinum songs.

"Dullah Beats" photoAlways in the company of the likes of DJ Wizz, DJ Toomp, K-AXE, and DJ Swift C, his production inspirations and being mentored by Brother Ken who taught Dullah Beats the art of sampling using his first MPC 60.  Dullah Beats started learning the art of production while still spinning and mixing at local parties.  It was during this time in 1989 that he met Gary "Shy" Freeman and created a rap group called Orchestrators In Effect, "O.I.E.".   They entered their very first talent show and won a Yugo, a record contract with Dynasty records, and produced a few anti-drug commercials for channel 2, 5 and 11 as a result of winning this talent competition.  As the years moved on, Dullah Beats crossed paths with yet another industry cat, Carlos Glover, who he met through Shy while DJ'ing on Kool-Ace's project 1989-1990, and met Rodney "Big Chill" Hood of Shades of Destruction. Once these groups heard the masterpiece productions Dullah Beats was creating, word started to spread around the Ben Hill community of Atlanta.  Other local artist came calling, wanting Dullah Beats' creative mind to customize and define their individual sound.  Dullah Beats began perfecting his craft while still continuing to hang with Sleepy Brown and his crew (who later became known as Organized Noize).
